EVENT: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SKILLS4WATER

written by:

Welcome to the first conference in Spain entirely dedicated to exploring the role of soft skills in the water sector (marine and freshwater)!

We’re excited to invite you to the International Conference on Soft Skills for Water, taking place on June 25, 2025, at the University of Cádiz. The congress is organized by the Skills4water Erasmus+ Project (https://skills4water.eu/), whose aims are to equip students and young professionals working in the water sector with essential soft skills, integrate them into higher education curricula, thus promoting innovation and leadership in the European water industry, and disseminate related best practices across Europe. This is the first conference in Spain dedicated entirely to evaluating the importance of soft skills within the context of water professionals — a unique opportunity to connect, share, and grow together.

The conference day will feature participant presentations, roundtable discussions, and mentoring experiences from national and international stakeholders. You’ll have the chance to present your ideas, exchange practical insights, and learn from diverse voices in the field.

Additionally, a financial award will be given to the best student´s presentation. The award must be used to pay the registration fees for a future academic conference or specialization course or allocated to support travel expenses in furtherance of their scholarly development, before December 2026. The event will close with an award ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions.

June 25 is the conference day — a full-day program from 09:00 to 17:00 including talks, discussions, and networking moments.

All presentations will be short (5 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A), and abstracts must be submitted following the guidelines provided.

All information, submission links, and updates can be found at the Skills4Water Conference Guidelines.

Questions can be addressed to skills4water@uca.es

Besides the conference, we encourage you to register for the two days of training courses on June 26–27, organized by the project “Aplicación práctica de los resultados obtenidos en el proyecto SEA-EU DOC”, and designed to provide practical tools for professional development. These hands-on sessions will focus on Conflict Resolution and Leadership, with tracks tailored to both early-career professionals (Conflict Resolution, Personal Leadership) and experienced researchers, professors, and supervisors (Conflict Resolution & Leadership). The goal is to empower participants with real strategies they can apply in their academic, research, and team environments. We would love to see you there!
